The mission of the Washington Green Hydrogen Alliance (WGHA) is to ensure families and businesses benefit from an affordable, zero-carbon alternative fuel source made in Washington State.
Our vision is to make Washington America’s #1 source of green hydrogen for use in transportation, manufacturing, and export around the world.
Fossil fuel-free energy produced in the Evergreen State. A limitless renewable resource we can use to decarbonize our state’s economy and transportation sectors.
We call it “evergreen” because it will never emit any CO2 when it’s being made or when it’s being used. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever.
Green hydrogen can be made by splitting water (H20) by powering an electrolyzer with renewable electricity.

Washington’s Next Great Energy Export
Green Hydrogen Energy Benefits The Entire State
We’re already known around the world for our software, airplanes, coffee, and apples.
With our plentiful hydro resources and strategic location on the Pacific Rim, Washington could become one of the largest exporters of clean energy in the country while generating millions of dollars for critical public services like schools, roads, and hospitals.
Green hydrogen is the ideal renewable energy source to complement solar and wind power because when the sun isn’t shining or the wind isn’t blowing, those pollution free energy sources can be stored as hydrogen for weeks or months.
Learn MoreIn order to reduce our climate pollution as quickly as possible, industry needs a fuel source to help it replace coal, gas, and oil. Meanwhile, heavy duty transportation like trucks, airplanes, and cargo ships can’t easily be electrified with other clean energy sources like solar, wind, and hydroelectric power.
Green hydrogen is the one renewable energy source that can transition our largest sources of pollution off fossil fuels.
